Christmas at Town Close is a very special time of the school year with a multitude of festive events, performances and celebrations for the whole community to enjoy.
The Pre Prep Nativities are always a highlight for families and pupils alike with our youngest children demonstrating their age defying confidence and poise. With all year groups, from Nursery to Year 2, playing to a full house in Read Hall, they all delivered incredible shows packed with humour, energy, drama and joy!
The Christmas Ensembles Concert brought together musicians from Year 2 – Year 8 in a joyous celebration of Christmas and musical collaborations within School. Wind, brass, string, guitar and choir ensembles were all represented beautifully by the children, with the Junior String Ensemble providing the highlight of the night with their unorthodox performance of ‘Manhattan Blues’, part of which was performed lying down! The Concert concluded with everyone in Read Hall joining in a rousing rendition of ‘Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer’ accompanied by all of the musicians who performed.
Celebrating the festive season with our local community is always particularly special and, this year, was no different when our Junior Fortissimo Choir joined pupils from Sprowston Infant School, our Charity Friend In Deed and residents from Chiswick House, Corton House Care Home, Dell Rise Court, Redlands House Care Home and Badgers Wood Care Home to sing carols, enjoy refreshments and to share their own stories and memories of Christmas. It proved to be a magical morning of festive fun and friendship across the ages. Our Prep children, also, thoroughly enjoyed making and writing some beautiful Christmas cards to send out to residents in local cares homes as part of our affiliation with our School Charity, Friend In Deed.
Across a bumper day of festive fundraising for Friend In Deed, our Pre Prep children, from Nursery – Year 2, were beyond excited to dash through the Woodland Walk for a sponsored Santa Dash before the whole school came together in the afternoon for the Christmas Celebration at which our Year 3 and 4 pupils sold their incredible crafts, our Year 8 elves entertained everyone and our Catering team and PTA ensured all were well fed. Communal carol singing was a fitting conclusion to a wonderful day of Christmas fun. Thank you to everyone who donated so generously and to all those who contributed to make the afternoon so enjoyable.
The Prep Carol Service was a joyful and fitting end to the Autumn Term with a full congregation at St Peter Mancroft enjoying a wonderful feast of carols, festive lessons and beautiful choral pieces. We were delighted to welcome a number of our Town Close Associates to the service and for refreshments afterwards whilst the rest of the School enjoyed a fabulous Christmas lunch back at School courtesy of our incredible catering team.
Wishing all of our Town Close community a very Merry Christmas and all the best for a happy and healthy New Year.
