Sailing

Sailing is offered as an option on Wednesday afternoons in the first half of the Autumn Term and throughout all of the Summer Term. Whilst Filby Broad has been our base in the past we shall be moving to Whitlingham Broad next year.

The course is run by fully qualified instructors who pass on their experience and enthusiasm to the pupils. After a couple of weeks practice and instruction, pupils are able to rig and launch their own boats, and receive instruction in practical skills, racing and games.

Beginners usually use a “Topper” single-handed dinghy, whereas more experienced sailors may use other craft.

Pupils work towards Royal Yachting Association Level Certificates, and we hope that as many as possible will leave the school with RYA certificates in their log books and an enjoyment of sailing. We try to give as many pupils as possible the opportunity to try sailing and experience a different sport with new and varied skills..
