Marvellous Art Exhibition
For an entire week at the end of term parents, children, visitors and friends of the School were treated to a superb exhibition of our childen's work. Every child from Year 1 to Year 8 had at least one piece of work exhibited. The range was impressive, from Seurat and Klimt in Year 1 through to some quite stunning original pieces in the senior part of the School. The Read Hall was transformed into an art gallery for the week. Hundreds of visitors browsed and admired the work, which can be seen below. Art is a real strength of the School as this exhibition clearly demonstrates. Immediately below you will find our Head of Art, Michele Harman's foreword which appeared in the exhibition catalogue.
‘Life’s Journey’
This exhibition is the collaboration of a year’s journey into the world of art. It is our hope that it will raise your awareness of what the children at Town Close House experience and learn as they travel to Year 8. Children learn through their visual and tactile experiences. In the early years, Art is used to develop visual awareness. This is built on progressively through the learning of new skills and techniques. As children travel further on their artistic voyage they grow in independence and become empowered to make choices. This will result in a truly personal response to a given theme. We hope that you enjoy the ride!
