Ethos
The School is firmly wedded to the principle of co-education. We believe that girls and boys gain most from each other’s company and that this is an important educational dimension in the context of learning to live with people from different social, cultural and intellectual backgrounds. Equality of opportunity for all, irrespective of race, creed, gender, ability and social background is fundamental to our aims as a school as is our determination to have every child’s welfare at heart and ensure their safety and security.
It is important that our pupils enjoy their time at Town Close. We seek every opportunity to praise and reward them, underlining our belief that children’s self confidence will always develop to its full potential through encouragement rather than criticism. We strive to give them the confidence to discover, enjoy and develop their qualities and talents. Through this same confidence, we teach them to recognise and work on their shortcomings both in the academic field and in developing their personalities. We aim to provide a broad based education so that our pupils move to their future schools with a strong academic grounding and a sense of what is right. A spirit of friendship and consideration for others is at the heart of our school and we endeavour to help children extend this spirit to the wider community.
