Town Close House Parent Teacher Association

Fun and Funds

The PTA (the Parent Teacher Association) is actively involved in organising social events for parents, teachers and friends. Usually there is a fund-raising element to these activities but we also hope that they are seen as convivial, social affairs, promoting friendship and fellowship between all those associated with Town Close School.

During the last year the PTA has successfully hosted a Mid Summer Ball, Quiz and Chips Evening, Bonfir Night and our new event the Easter Activity Morning for Pre-Prep children. Since June 2009 we have raised just over £14,500.00 With this money we have contributed to the New School Hymn Books, the sound system in Read Hall. and bought the new trampoline in the Sports Hall. We are currently awaiting delivery of £1600.00 worth of new building bricks for pre-prep along with four new exciting bikes. We will be making a further contribution to the new development in the pre-prep school.

The Town Close PTA committee thanks parents for their continued support and commitment to our fund raising events.

Car Sharing Scheme

In an effort to reduce traffic congestion in and around the school, Town Close operates a car sharing scheme. Please get in touch with your PTA and we will endeavour to put you in touch with families in your area.

Second Hand Uniform Sales

Our hugely successful uniform shop can be located on the first floor of the main house (near the music rooms). Here Charlotte Harrad, Emma Burton and Jenny Sanders are happy to help with all your uniform requirements. Clean quality clothes are always welcome. Our new style labels are available from the front office and must be safety pinned onto the garments. Please don't price your uniform we do that for you. 25% of all sales is donated to the PTA, and cheques for sales are issued twice a year. The uniform shop is open am and pm on the first tuesday of every month unless this falls on the first day of term. See blue card for dates.

PTA Grants

Over the years the PTA has helped the school purchase a wide and diverse range of equipment : a rugby scrum machine, a piano, a PA system, outdoor ride-on toys and indoor “wet weather” toys for the Pre-Prep and theatrical make-up for Drama productions - to mention just a few.

The Committee have been very pleased to raise the funds for the Adventure Playground.

We have also helped to buy two digital cameras, a high jump mat, outdoor play equipment, table tennis tables, audio CD books for the library with display carousel, wooden seats for the playground “Quiet Area” and, last but by no means least, two lovely chickens and their special eglu house!
