Welcome to the Pre-Prep Department

It is in the early stages of a child’s education that the foundations are laid for future learning. Very young children have a natural curiosity and enthusiasm. We aim to harness these qualities and provide an active, stimulating, happy and secure environment in which they can flourish. We nurture children into confident, well prepared and highly motivated learners who are able to move on and achieve the best for themselves.

At the same time we help them to develop into sociable and balanced individuals with good manners, self discipline, honesty and consideration for others.

Our Pre-Prep classes cater for children aged between three and seven years of age. Currently we have one Nursery class for children aged 3 – 4 years, three Reception classes (ages 4 – 5), three Year 1 classes (ages 5 – 6) and three Year 2 classes (ages 6 – 7).

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum in the Nursery and Reception classes. We then follow an enhanced Key Stage One curriculum for our pupils in Years 1 and 2.

  • A recent OFSTED report rated all areas of our Early Years provision as “Outstanding”
  • Key Stage 1 SATs / levels are well above national average standards
  • Outdoor learning is an important part of our curriculum and we have beautiful and extensive grounds in which this happens
  • Swimming and Music are taught weekly by specialist teachers from the Nursery class onwards / upwards
  • Teachers are well supported by teaching assistants, with several full time assistants in our Reception and Nursery classes
  • The whole of the Pre-Prep meets together for assembly and classes take it in turns to take a lead in special “Class Assemblies”
  • Excellent healthy food is cooked on the premises and available for all children. These are included in the school fees. (Special diets can be accommodated)
  • After School Care is available until 6.00pm and Early Years Vouchers are accepted.
