Library Visit

Yew Tree Class thoroughly enjoyed their first visit to the School library. The children listened carefully to the story of 'Six Dinner Sid' read by Mrs Wootton the librarian. After the story each child selected a book to borrow and helped Mrs Wootton to 'check' the book out of the library using the computer system. The children behaved beautifully and remembered that the library is a quiet place. Yew Tree Class look forward to their next visit.

Beech Tree Class Settle In

It has been lovely to see all the children settling in, making new friends and enjoying exploring their new environment.

We have been taking advantage of the wonderful Autumn weather and have created 'Woodland patterns', been on outdoor number trails and formed letters out of conkers. The children are showing great enthusiasm for our Read Write Inc Phonics sessions and are becoming 'Fred Talk' experts with the help of Phoneme Fred the fox.

Beech Class love listening to stories and sharing books with their friends. We have been reading lots of stories including Lucy and Tom Start School, Funny Bones, The Little Red Hen and Octopus Socktopus.

We have been thinking about what our bodies can do and have been exploring our senses. We put on our enormous special 'listening ears' to go on a listening walk, baked hedgehog bread and tasted bread from India.

The Reception classes visit Norwich Castle

Recently each Reception class visited Norwich Castle. The visit linked to our recent topic of ‘Fairy Tales and Castles’. When the children arrived at the Castle, they observed the turrets, stone bricks and arched – shaped door. Once inside, each class was given a tour of the castle, with activities to complete along the way. The children especially enjoyed watching their pennies drop to the bottom of the wishing well, and having the opportunity to sit on the throne.

Upon return to school, the children wrote a fact about Norwich castle, constructed their own 2d or 3d castle and made crowns and shields.

Reception R’s Pancake Day

To celebrate Shrove Tuesday, the children in RR had a wonderful time making, and eating pancakes. After enjoying this delicious treat, the children became active by participating in a range of pancake – themed games. There was raucous laughter from the Outdoor Classroom as the children competed in races such as ‘balancing the pancake on your head’ and ‘tossing the pancake on a tennis bat’. Here are some of our photographs taken from the day.

It is rocket science!

Reception S enjoyed an exciting afternoon of fun and investigation when we were joined by Corey’s mummy, who is a Science teacher.  We found out about the properties of gas when we launched paint rockets and made coca-cola fountains.  We discovered that Science is great fun and cannot wait to learn more!
