Foundation Stage - (Nursery & Reception, ages 3 - 5)
The Foundation Stage is a distinct stage of education for children aged 0 to 5. Within our setting, the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum consists of 6 key areas of learning which underlie our daily activities.
These are
1. Personal, Social and Emotional development
2. Communication, Language and Literacy
3. Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
4. Knowledge and Understanding of the World
5. Physical Development
6. Creative Development

None of these areas of learning and development can be delivered in isolation from the others. They are equally important and depend on each other to support a rounded approach to child development. All the areas must be delivered through planned, purposeful play, with a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities.
 |
Four key themes are integral to our Early Years practice.
1. Every child is unique.
2. Positive relationships allow strong and independent learners to be created.
3. Enabling learning environments support and extend children’s learning.
4. Children’s learning and development occur in different ways and at different rates.

Our Foundation Stage Team comprises one Nursery and three Reception Classes. Each class teacher is supported full time by a team of Learning support Assistants. Our children learn through experiences which are planned collaboratively. Weekly activities include swimming, music, PE and outdoor learning. |

As each term unfolds our learning is fostered and developed through a variety of adult-directed and free-choice activities.
