Brett the puppy visited us again and this time he came to the library. He was very well behaved and lots of children got to meet him and ask Gill and Deborah from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, lots of questions. While he was here he even had time to read a book!

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
There was great excitement in the Read Hall on Monday when Gill Yeates and Deborah Maloney arrived with Brett the puppy.
Gill and Deborah spoke to us all about the Hearing Dogs Charity and how puppies were trained ready for life with a deaf person. Our children asked plenty of very good questions including: ‘What would happen if the dog’s hearing became poor?’
It became clear that if we want to buy a hearing dog for the charity we will have to raise £5,000. If we can raise a further £2,500 then we will be able to pay for it to be fully trained ready to hand over to its new deaf owner.
Gill, Deborah and Brett will return on October 11th to visit both parts of the School but, in the meantime the challenge to start raising money has begun!
